The Marion County Industrial Foundation
has had stable, successful leadership over the past two decades with the
previous director having landed dozens of industries. The organization is funded 60% by county
government and 40% by the City of Lebanon.
The Executive Director plans, organizes
and implements all economic development functions related to business
retention, attracting new business, and improving quality of life assets for
our community. The Executive Director
directly reports to the 13 member board of directors. The office consists of the Executive Director
and one additional employee.
We have created economic momentum having located multiple industries in our community over the past two decades under our previous economic developer’s steady leadership. Given this success, our vision is that our executive director will continue our strong existing industry program to take care of the companies already here and work to improve our community from a quality of place / community development standpoint. We still want to participate in the industrial recruitment arena given we have 2 industrial parks with available land. We would like to create some diversity among our industrial sector, but we want to shift some of our focus to improving the community’s assets for our current and future residents.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Our ideal candidate will have had
tangible results in economic development over a minimum of 7 years experience.
Preferably some of these 7 years of experience will have been spent having had
success in a rural setting.
He or she will be a good industrial
recruiter and enjoy being an asset to our existing industries to help them be
sustainable and grow in Marion County. Additionally, he or she will enjoy working on non-industrial developments
such as improving our retail options, improving our restaurant options,
improving our recreation/entertainment options, improving our hotel options,
etc. He/she will also be forward
thinking with solutions to workforce development issues.
Estimated Time Spent on Areas of Responsibility:
