The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWK EDC) is in search of a dynamic professional who is interested in working and living in the young, diverse, and thriving South Western Kentucky region to become our next Associate Director of Business, Retention, and Expansion. The SWK EDC leads efforts to recruit new businesses and industries while supporting 61+ existing manufacturers in the three-county region of Christian, Todd, and Trigg Counties, KY.    The three-county region features historic and charming communities and serves as the home of Fort Campbell, KY.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

The Associate Director of Business, Retention, and Expansion will possess a balanced skill set with strengths in initiative, organization, communication, follow-through, teamwork, and relationship building. 

The candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, experience and comfort with technology, experience and comfort using all forms of social media, and a willingness to work with a team while persistently building relationships with existing industries and our workforce partners in the region. 

The candidate will be expected to live in the SWK region. College degree is required with experience in economic development, chamber of commerce, community development, industry, and/or military considered as additional desirable backgrounds. 

The position will:

  • Report to the Executive Director the retention of existing businesses in the region and market research analysis to generate new leads.
  • Assist in the coordination of the economic development operations to promote business, industry, and job development as well as the long-term growth of Christian, Trigg and Todd counties.

  • Serve as the lead existing industry contact for 61+ manufacturers in the SWK region coordinating visits, lunch meetings, contacts, posting jobs, etc.

  • Coordinate SWK EDC social media and communication strategies to promote SWK EDC efforts and to highlight the manufacturers and industries that are located in the SWK.

  • Serve as EDC’s workforce expert and partner with workforce organizations to ensure talent pipeline for regional industries is strong and growing.
  • Cultivate Fort Campbell/ DOD relationships to ensure transitioning military and military dependents are successfully integrated into regional workforce talent pipeline efforts.
  • Serve as staff lead for all existing business programs including PIMA, SHRM, HOPFAME, etc.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute monthly communications including the Investor Alert report, regular industry job updates, monthly PIMA update, and other updates as needed.
  • Track statistics related to existing business for the EDC accountability system.
  • Aid in fundraising efforts for the program.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary commensurate with experience, negotiable.
